In this age of high travel costs people are constantly in search of dirt cheap airfare. It’s important to try to save money when you have to make a trip, whether you’re going on personal travel or for business. Read on for some tips and tricks on how to cut your airline ticket costs.
Fuel costs caused Airlines to begin selling services that were free in the past. For example, some airlines began charging for a second checked in bag. They even charge for the first bag. Many instituted extra charges for window and isle seats. This made it ever more important to find dirt cheap airfares in the first place. Then once all these charges were added, at least it wasn’t breaking the bank.
People can find dirt cheap airline tickets. But consider that even after oil prices fell 50%, meaning the price of fuel fell as well, airlines did not end all of these extra charges. Once a company or industry makes consumers accustomed to a certain type of charge or fee it’s very unlikely that they’ll ever remove it. That’s simply the nature of business.
So we know why all of these extra travel costs have been added. We know there are ways to find a dirt cheap airfare. But how? One idea is the Internet. Travel sites offer low fares from all the airlines. These will often result in finding the best or lowest airfare.
Don’t overlook the airline websites when searching for a dirt cheap airfare. There are often specials and discounted airfares on these sites that won’t be found in the travel sites. It’s wise to use these in addition to the travel sites. Sign up to receive emails for specials.
Many people make the mistake of only flying with one airline. They think that’s the way to a dirt cheap airfare. It’s not. Yes there are perks, but they come at the expense of giving up comparison on about 95% of your flights. Some people like to feel special. So keep flying with one airline.
One other tip for a dirt cheap airfare is to avoid those auction sites. These usually result in a higher fare than could be found directly.
