Once again the outdoors beckon us where you get dizzy with fresh air and sunshine. Camping in the forests of our great country has to be the ultimate in family activities. You not only get to spend time with your loved ones, you also get time to reinforce certain family values. If you are a nature lover, then it is so important that you pass your knowledge onto your children.
Once you have decided when to go and you have worked out where you are going on a map, you need to do some careful planning. Here again you could make it a family issue whereby the children get certain things to pack and organize. Boys will remember to bring their men’s sport watch for instance and girls will remember to take their digital book reader, for the unexpected rainy day. They could also plan certain meals which will included a few marsh mellows to toast on the fire a night.
We are partly to blame for our children’s inability and lack of luster to be in the outdoors, because we want our children home where we can see them and know that they are safe. So we get them internet, and computer games and phones to text each other and a myriad of other gadgets to keep them busy. It’s a noble idea, but it makes them lazy and takes them away from the outdoors.
With technology bombarding us with the newest and latest gadgets, we don’t stop and think how it will affect our children in the long run. They need more sunlight and more exercise which will give them more energy and turn them into what they were made for, bubbling happy little people.
So you might be living near a ski resort or you could do a day trip to one, why not take your alpine skiing equipment along and make it a skiing trip as well. Combined with camping or just sleeping in a log cabin, this activity is guaranteed to bring the child out in you and for that matter, bring out the child in your children again. It provides hours of fun as they laugh at your attempts of jumping or just falling down in the snow.
The added bonus for the entire family is that you will get the needed Vitamin D which the sun provides us for free. Exposed it the sun’s UV rays for about 20 minutes every third day will give you enough to help your bodies absorb more calcium and control a normal blood level of calcium and phosphorus.
That is why camping or even skiing is a really good sport and activity to do and has the added bonus to binding a family closer together was well.
