Firgarth, Windermere

The Firgarth is a Victorian House built in Lakeland stone around 1875 offers views to the rear over Wynless Beck, along with comfortable rooms that have en suite facilities, a residents lounge and private parking. The comfortable bedrooms all have en suite facilities, colour TV, clock radio, hospitality tray, hairdryer and a range of toiletries. The rooms are decorated on a combination of modern and traditional design. The guest lounge is comfortable with plenty of books and information on local walks and a selection of games to keep you amused in the evenings. The traditional breakfast menu is all freshly prepared. There is a choice of orange juice, grapefruit, fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurt and a variety of cooked-to-order breakfasts.

The Hollbeck Ghyll Guest House is celebrated as one of the Lake District’s finest country house hotels, Holbeck Ghyll is an oasis of calm, surrounded by many acres of woodland and natural beauty. Built in the 19th Century, Holbeck Ghyll was bought in 1888 by Lord Lonsdale, one of the richest men in the country, to use as his hunting lodge. The “Yellow Earl”, as he was known, was the first president of the Automobile Association and bequeathed the famous Lonsdale Belt to boxing. The oak panelled entrance hall, with it’s inglenook fireplace (in which a log fire burns for much of the year), provides a warm welcome. The magnificent Oak Panelled Restaurant and the Terrace Restaurant, both with stunning views, are ideal settings for a memorable dining experience.
