Many people will have the argument, you don’t need to fly around the world to see some animals, just drive down the road? You do have to remember that the zoo wont hold nearly as many different animals as Africa does. So let’s try and clear a few things up, let’s look at the advantages and disadvantages of the two.
We’ll start with the Zoo. A Safari holiday will be considerably more expensive than heading to the zoo. Even though you don’t actually see these animals in their habitats, you are still able to see them none the less. The chance to see these animals is rare, but a zoo offers this chance to everybody, in some cases you can actually interact with these animals (probably not the dangerous ones). If you compare the distances, you will find that there is probably a zoo much closer to you. Anyone usually has a zoo within about 100-150 miles of them, not 6000 miles in a plane. The fact that these animals are at your fingertips also offers an exciting, enjoyable and educational experience for everyone, taking your children couldn’t be easier.
So now let’s take a look at the Safari. Well, this is where it gets difficult for some people to understand how amazing these holidays are. This is a holiday that you only really need to go on once, but after you have been, you will want to go back again. It is an unbelievable experience seeing some of these majestic creatures in their original environment. Staying in a resort knowing that there is a lion or a rhino just outside the door is a magnificent feeling. Safari’s may be expensive, but you will be glad you invested in one, however it probably isn’t a good idea to take the whole family. You will hear astonishing stories that your guide will tell you about and some of them are considered luxury holidays.
Think carefully when you go to the zoo the next time, the more you see these animals in captivity the more you will want to see them in the wild, you never know you might end up wanting a Kenya safari!
