A skiing holiday doesn’t have to break the bank or indeed put you into debt. Whatever your budget, you can enjoy a sensational skiing vacation providing your creative and smart with your money. The first thing to do is start to plan where you would like to stay. You can often find some great deals on Chamonix accommodation and Meribel apartments if you don’t wait until the last minute to book your accommodation. Additionally, look into group rates, specials, and into all of your options. Traveling a number days either side of your preferred dates can often save a considerable amount.
Be sure to explore all of the options as to how to get to the ski resort. Taking the train to the ski slopes is also worth considering and the decision could save you a lot of money. In addition, look into budget and charter airlines and see if they offer off peak fares.
Also, try to take as much as equipment as you possibly can. If you don’t own your own equipment, ask friends and loved ones if you can borrow theirs. Paying for rental items once you have arrived can work out quite expensive.
And finally, don’t be afraid of bringing your own food and drink, particularly if you require specialist items. Often, a considerable amount of ‘holiday money’ is spent on evening entertainment including restaurant meals and alcohol, however with such a fantastic range of supermarkets in many of the major supermarkets, don’t forget you can save considerable amounts simple by dining at your holiday rental every few days.
