There are plenty of holidays I have tried – soaking up the sun in Spain, braving the roller coasters in America and walking in Wales to name but a few.
However, I still have a few different experiences I would love to try. One of them would be trying my hand at the fruit machines in Las Vegas. One of my friends has just returned from there and so far I can’t get her to stop talking about it as she enjoyed it so much. It’s true that you can gamble 24 hours a day. She said she lost quite a lot of money, but had set herself a daily limit, so didn’t really mind too much as she really enjoyed the whole thrill of the place.
Something I really would like to experience is a safari holiday.
Safaris are meant to be absolutely fabulous. On a visit to Florida recently, I was lucky enough to visit their Animal Kingdom Park and got a little taster of what a safari holiday might be like. However, as with everything in Disney it is all controlled and you know that the animals can’t get that close to you. It must be such an experience to be on a real safari and be within a whiskers touch of a lion. I bet that must feel absolutely invigorating.
Holidays to South Africa are certainly gaining in popularity and are a great holiday choice.
In all honesty though, keen as I am to book a safari holiday, one thing that really puts me off is all those spiders. They really do freak me out. They scare me rigid. It’s so silly when you look at their size to mine. It’s the fact that they seem to be able to run so fast on their big fat hairy legs. Unfortunately my dread of spiders has rubbed off on the kids so my other half has spent many nights being woken by one of the kids screaming that there is a spider in their bedroom.
Be very careful though and whatever you do DO NOT hoover up a spider into a paper hoover bag. My mother in law did this once and a little while later she couldn’t understand why the hoover bag was moving around so much. The spider of course had had babies and so instead of one spider, there were hundreds of them. It was absolutely hilarious and an experience she is keen never to repeat.
Now if somebody could ensure that I could enjoy a safari without encountering any spiders, I would be there like a shot. If not, then it looks like somehow I am going to have to work at overcoming my fear. How weird that a huge animal like a lion doesn’t worry me in the slightest, just a stupid little spider!!
